Generation Kill

“”Based on Evan Wright's National Magazine Award-winning story in Rolling Stone, this is the raw, firsthand account of the 2003 Iraq invasion that inspired the HBO® original mini-series.””
After 9/11, twenty-three Marines of the First Recon Battalion, are the first generation dispatched into open-ended combat since Vietnam. They are called the ‘First Suicide Battalion’. These boys go into it all with attitude, pop culture references and some fresh music. A whole cast of fresh young faces servicing their country and hoping for a little payback. There is some humor to be found in the group despite the mission… there is always that ‘one guy’.
Evan Wright's first-hand experience with these boys brings out their deep characters and personalities, flaws even. They tend to tolerate him as a tag along. It’s a brilliant piece of non-fiction, and Wright gets it down clean and readable.
