Major Cordell McDaniels is given the most important mission of his career: lead a Special Forces team into New York City to rescue the one man, and his daughter, who can stop the ghastly virus that reanimates the dead.
The ‘Zeds’ or ‘Stenches’ as the zombies are called, infest the streets, making the Big Apple nearly inescapable. What makes this terrible turn even more terrible? Well, some of the Special Forces people that were turned still have their military skills…as a matter of fact, a percentage of many of the zombies are not just mindless flesh eating hungries. It’s enough to drive you nuts!!
It’s a really great read, with some very interesting takes on the whole Zombie Genre. I admit, unless you have been in or around the military, you may not get some of the jargon and acronyms, not without backtracking a few pages to get the one and only description…however, some are pretty self-explanatory.
There’s not a lot of science in this read either. As this is part of a series, that will come later.
I really enjoyed this book, so much so that I bought and devoured (like a hungry zombie) all the other books in the series. I’ll be reviewing them one at a time.
Stephen Knight is great at horror and sci-fi, and he loves the military. He has some other none zombie book series as well that I haven’t read yet, but I plan to!
